Simple method to link Pan no to aadhar before July 31st

Simple method to link Pan no to aadhar before July 31st

The IT Dept had been asking people to link their PAN no. with Aadhar before 31 July and many were finding it difficult as their names did not match in both. ( Eg. Names with initials in one and expanded initials in another). Responding to complaints, the IT dept has come out with a simple solution now.

Just go to their www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in website and log in. Then go to Profile settings and choose Aadhar linking. Then enter Aadhar no. and ENTER NAME AS GIVEN IN AADHAR CARD. Then both get linked and u will get a confirmation about its success to ur email too. This is a simpler process than several other methods tried earlier.
Please note that matching of PAN and Aadhar is inevitable for GST also

Kindly recall the discussion we had on the above referred subject on 08/05/2017. Your good-self agreed to convene a meeting to find out a solution. Nearly 10 days have lapsed and no action seems to have been taken so far.

The matter is affecting the postal group-c employees who are very much dedicated and sincere in this Department , keeping them unhappy will affect postal operations badly.

My federation hopes that the Department will convene a staff side meeting to find a solution for the issues arising out of the implementation of the Cadre Restructuring orders of Postal Group ‘C’ employees.

Yours sincerely,
D. Theagarajan.

Indira Gandhi remains most acceptable PM even 33 years after death: President Pranab Mukherjee

Image result for indira gandhiNEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee said Indira Gandhi remains the "most acceptable ruler, prime minister" of a democratic country even 33 years after her death. His comment was among a string of glorious tributes to the late premier at the release of a book on her life —"India's Indira".

"She was one of the remarkable personalities of the 20th century all over the world. And to the people of India, even today after her passing away in 1984, she is the most acceptable ruler or PM of a democratic country even today," he said.

The commemorative book, edited by
Congress leader Anand Sharma, is part of Indira's centenary year celebrations.

The event at
Teen Murti Bhavan — also attended by Vice President MA Ansari, former PM Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi who read the speech on behalf of an indisposed Sonia Gandhi — saw President Mukherjee speak about Indira's views on 'Operation Blue Star' in Golden Temple.

As a minister taking the decision on storming the temple, Mukherjee said he was afraid of "doing anything to the Golden Temple" and remembered the bad times Ahmed Shah Abdali had to face after he "did something wrong to the Golden Temple" following the third battle of Panipat.

He added:"It is not that she did not know it, she knew it very well. And she told me, 'sometimes history demands some action which may not prove correct later on but, perhaps, is the most relevant at that moment." Mukherjee said he had narrated the incident as an example of her fearlessness in action.

Committee On Allowances Makes Minor Changes To Allowances

New Delhi: The Committee on Allowances has made only minor changes to allowances on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission for the central government employees

The committee has also dittoed the pay commission recommendation of house rent allowance (HRA) of 24, 16 and 8 per cent respectively, instead of the present rate of HRA — of 30, 20 and 10 per cent of basic pay.

A top Finance Ministry official, who did not wish to be named told us after receiving the Committee on Allowances report from Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa, who led the committee, the report is being currently examined by the Department of Expenditure.

The 7th Pay Commission, led by Justice A K Mathur, earlier proposed abolition of 52 allowances and subsuming of another 36 allowances into larger existing ones out of total 196 allowances, which triggered resentment among central government employees that government complied with formation of the Committee on Allowances.

The Committee on Allowances was constituted in June last year after the government gave nod the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission from January 1, 2016 in respect of basic pay and dearness allowances.

The Committee on Allowances in its report agreed with the pay commission’s recommendation for reducing house rent allowance (HRA) and made minor changes in little allowances for central government employees, the Finance Ministry official told us.

The recommendations of allowances would be finalised by May or June after examining by the empowered committee of secretaries and following that it will be placed before the Cabinet by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, he said.

No matter when the recommendations are finalised, the new allowances will be made effective from January 1 last year, the official asserted.

DOP has taken the decision to block Google/Gmail and the Associated subdomains up to 18th May to start with
Due to the recent cyber attack - Net Ransomware "WannaCry" - which is affecting systems across and spreading via Gmail as attachment, DOP has taken the decision to block Google/Gmail and the Associated subdomains up to 18th May to start with. This may be further extended based on threat levels and also the patch and AV Compliance across the network.

The WannaCry ransomware attack has spread to 150 countries

Since its discovery on Friday afternoon, the WannaCry ransomware attack has continued to spread this weekend, impacting over 10,000 organizations and 200,000 individuals in over 150 countries, according to European authorities. However, while measures have been taken to slow the spread of the malware, new variations have begun to surface.
This morning, Europol Director Rob Wainwright told the BBC that the cyberattack is “unprecedented in its scale,” and noted that it will likely continue as people return to work on Monday. While Microsoft took the unusual step to issue a patch for Windows XP, the patch will only work if installed, and authorities have been warning businesses to ensure that their systems are updated.
The ransomware attack began on Friday afternoon, where it affected England’s National Health Service, prompted automaker Renault to idle factories in France, and many others. A 22-year-old cybersecurity expert known as MalwareTech slowed the attack by registering a domain name he discovered in the ransomware’s code. He told the BBC that another attack is likely coming soon, one that works around his fix.Researchers have since discovered two new variations of the ransomware. One has been blocked with another domain name registration, but the other variant has no kill switch, but is only partially working.
The software exploits a security flaw in Windows XP, and once it infects a computer, it encrypts the files and spreads to other computers. Victims receive a demand for a payment of $300 in Bitcoin in order to regain access. However, despite the widespread nature of the attack, it’s believed that the perpetrators have only raised around $20,000 in payments.

Haryanites wrote exam in Kasaragod

With the arrest of a youth from Haryana on the charge of examination malpractice in the recently held recruitment test for the postman-cum-mail guard post, the police here have intensified their investigation to unravel what could be a well-orchestrated racket to secure a job in one of the country’s oldest government institutions.
A team headed by Vidyanagar Circle Inspector Babu Peringeth on Friday took Kulwant, 24, into police custody for nine days. He was arrested for allegedly using a cellphone to receive answer keys of the competitive examination through decoded messages believed to have been sent by the racketeers operating from Haryana.
Kulwant was arrested on Sunday and charged under the IPC provisions 420-B (cheating).
He confessed to the police that he got the phone with the help of an accomplice from outside after entering the examination hall, Mr. Peringeth said.
The police, during preliminary investigation, had traced the location tower and identified the cell phone number used from Haryana as the gadget was found to have disseminated answer keys to several aspirants who took the test on the day at various centres in the country.
Throwing further light into the possible magnitude of the recruitment racket, Kasaragod Postal Superintendent T.V. Keshavan told The Hindu here that as many as 5,895 of the 10,060 applicants had appeared for the test held in 19 centres in the district on May 7.
Interestingly, the majority of the aspirants who took the test at the two venues here — Government College, Kasaragod, and Chinmaya Vidyalaya at nearby Vidyanagar — were from Haryana.
According to Mr. Keshavan, as many as 95 and 91 aspirants from the north Indian State had appeared for the examination at the government college and the Chinmaya Vidyalaya respectively while only a minuscule number from Kerala had been allotted the venues to appear for the test, held by outsourcing the services of the private Manipal Technology Ltd.
Generally, the Staff Selection Commission is entrusted with the task of conducting recruitment examination in other cadres of the Postal Department while private agencies too have been found to be involved in the examination process to select posts in recent years, the official said.

Why Duplicate PAN Cards Are Not as Big an Issue as the Modi Government Claims

With all the detected duplicate PAN cards being deactivated and there being only 645 fake PAN cards, why is the government pushing for drastic changes to India’s income tax structure?

In March this year, one of the main reasons the government gave for introducing the new section 139AA into the Income Tax Act, 1961, is that fake Permanent Account Number (PAN) cards were rife in circulation. The government’s idea is that the linking of Aadhaar cards to PAN cards will eventually weed out fake PAN cards. By this logic, the government has made it mandatory to link the two through section 139AA. The section says that without this linking, the PAN card will become invalid and a citizen will not be able to file their taxes anymore. This has now been challenged in the Supreme Court and the bench of Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri and Justice Ashok Bhushan heard the matter for six days and the judgment is now reserved.
